I'm fairly new to guitar recording. I've been using fl studio for some time because I'm used to the interface but I can never get good sounding recordings on it

I'm using this sound card

http://www.rolandus.com/products/details/970

I plug a 1/4 to xlr cable into the sound card and use guitar rig to amp model but any time I add a bit of distortion it sounds terrible and there is always feedback even when I record whilst the amp is disabled (recorded clean and then connected to guitar rig) am I doing something wrong?

I don't think it's the plugins, I always get a hissing noise whenever my guitar is plugged in. How should I record it? With an xlr? Direct line in? Rocksmith USB cable?

with that interface? you should plug the guitar directly into the interface with a standard instrument cable.

How can I plug my guitar in with a normal cable? There's no input for that

those plugs are XLR/Jack combination plugs. Just put the instrument cable into the middle of the plug

It's like plugception.
