Is anyone else here interested in the label Hyperdub? I don't think there has been a record they've put out yet that I haven't liked, and i definitely haven't listened to nearly enough. Kode9 seems like a really great person, comes off really well in interviews.

Favourite records include: Sebenza by LV, Black Is Beautiful by Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland, and Pretty Ugly by DVA.

they're supporting footwork the same way they supported Funky a few years ago, maybe it will replace dubstep in the zeitgeist dunno. lets talk hyperdub at this pivotal point in musical history.

I love Burial and the Kode9 stuff I've heard was good too. Been meaning to check out some more hyperdub stuff for a while so I guess I'll start with the records you listed

Yeah cool, tell me what you think. Black Is Beautiful is definitely the outlier in terms of style.

No. In terms of HyperDubs output, Footwork is pretty much just represented by DJ Rashad's 12"s. Its a chicago thing with fast bpms and chopped rnb samples looping around 1 or two beats out of sync with the four-to-the-floor or whatever. Rashad and Spin seem to be the internationally recognised producers, they both put out mixtapes called Teklife which are really good, but other than that i think it is a pretty local scene. I don't know much about it, other than "liking" stuff that i've heard being called footwork and watching some vimeo documentary on it and Kode9 saying "i like footwork" or whatever. TYhere's plenty of stuff tagged as it on soundcloud though.

This Walton stuff just seems to be more weird "english" stuff. One of his videos on youtube has a photo of a dog smelling mushrooms, so i guess its part of this English exoticism thing. EDIT: but I guess there are stylistic similiarites between this and "footwork" yeah. EDIT2: alot of similairties actually., that "No" shouldn't be so dismissive... I guess this is English influenced footwork or something.
