Hi, I am a normal, healthy 24 year old male who was recently in good standing with society. I am currently an infantryman in the Army Old Guard, the ceremonial unit mainly charged with laying fallen soldiers to rest. I loved my job; I was really good at it. I smoked weed ten times a day before the military; it was a big joke with the other soldiers. I also had a huge drinking problem my first year here that no one knew about; I drank every day, every morning, immediatelly after work, and constantly during the weekends. People knew about that too and everyone laughed and got just as shit faced.
People were getting dui's, guys were dying in car accidents. It was sad, and I was getting sick, but all this was ok and almost encouraged being in the military. Drink as much as you can, get girls as drunk as they can, hit each other, hit your wives as long as they keep their mouth shut: none of these actions will get you kicked out of the military so its ok. If you die in a drunk driving accident, dont worry about it. You'll get a nice funeral and everyone will carry your nametag around. DRINK! DRINK! DRINK! DRINK! but don't smoke Spice. Oh God, don't smoke spice. Please don't smoke spice. "They say it ****s up your mind. I heard a dude shot his wife and kid while on the stuff. It'll make you eat faces. You'll see things and even see them when your not smoking. You'll never be the same again."

What? I smoked spice and incense EVERY SINGLE DAY, before work, during work, after work HEAVILY. Did i even exhibit one violent thought, let alone action? No way!! The stuff is not like that! It's a fear campaign that makes people think this! The "drug knowledge" pamphlets warn of "SERIOUS" side effects such as ANXIETY! HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE! CONFUSION! LOSS OF COORDINATION! ya no duh, the shit makes you high. (The only anxiety I had was early on wondering if someone was going to kick down the door and bust me for smoking spice) It's awesome. It's a drug, i'm not debating that its a drug. I've only smoked weed, drank, and now smoked synthetics like spice and incense. I love drugs. I love everything about them. I love the culture. I love the bright upbeat, laid back nature of people on drugs. I also love that black hole people spiral into; crawling into a hidden space in today's world and slowly kill themselves with addiction. I also love people fighting their addiction, realizing they're dying, fighting the good fight, and making themselves into successful, sober, wonderful people with new and hungry leases on life. All in all, drugs are a very beautiful piece of the world. Just as beautiful as any war story or love story.

But there are people out there, people with one mindset: destroy. People who play God and judge. People who play Satan and accuse. People who play the Devil and destroy. For some reason these people fear and want to kill anyone who does drugs, but they can't kill them so they settle with ruining their lives. Throwing them in jail, giving them criminal records, labeling them as dangerous, damaged, slow, confused. So when people crawl into their black hole, they can never get out while the sober vigilantes make laws to stomp them into the ground and get everyone to laugh at them. Why do people do this to their fellow man? Shit happens, people get hooked on drugs, but give them the chance they'll fix themselves and if they don't, they'll die. Just like any other unhealthy life style option. But now drugs is a crime and with crime comes death because a war has been created where the black has to fight the white to keep the money flowing. Now that it's a crime, it's become two sided: one side is trying to hunt and kill the other, the other is trying to keep business going, pushing it like cigarettes, and kill the ones trying to hunt and kill them. What's your opinion on this?

I am currently being discharged from the Army because I confessed to using spice. It was a laid back setting, I wanted to confess and start my journey to sobriety, and I even gave up names of others because I'm honest. I'm not going to lie. I fully expected punishment because I broke the rules, nothing new about that, but someone heard about what I did and said that we are dangerous, we endangered the lives of others by smoking spice and when I said I couldn't imagine spice having the crazy effect they were saying it had, my superiors laughed. One even left the room because he thought I was so dellusional. Wtf. I am a ****ing veteran! I serve dead veterans! Now because of this hate campaign against drugs the only benefit I'll get from my years of brutal service is the knowledge and honor that I gave families the honor that their fallen family member deserved, and I did it with the legendary precision and dedication expected of the Old Guard.
Should I be discharged from the military for smoking spice and tell me why. I know I broke a lawful order, but excelled at my job. Less that 1% of 1% get SELECTED for the Old Guard, Official Escort to the President.

I smoked a lot of that shit too. It wasn't that bad.

You were in the military. You should have had the discipline to avoid that shit, and the common sense to stop AND keep your mouth shut. As far as I'm concerned, the Army just excised another tumor

This one, however, is not bad. Except thyme is an herb, not a spice

Thyme isn't even a spice! Do your research next time, otherwise your puns will just keep saffron for it.

Wait a minute. You practically drank yourself to death every day, and since the military tolerates that, it's okay. You then proceed to a drug that's banned by the military and are astonished that you're discharged ?

Typical.

Was expecting The Fresh Prince of Bel Air thing at the end.

My expectations were not met.

Cream of tartar will clog your entire system dude, might as well drink some cinnamon and bake yourself into snickerdoodles at that point.

Cayenne, brother.

The capers of being in the army do take their toll.

ok, to get help for drinking you have to miss work twice a week and bring down everyone around you because they have to pick up the slack. I could have done that OR i could have just switched over to spice and there would be no more drinking affecting my work performance. It worked, didn't drink for a year. But when I was too hooked on spice I confessed to my higher ups about what i was doing and got promoted for confessing. And I got put in a drug/alcohol abuse treatment program. Yay! But then one guy decided he needed to play God and decided my friends and I all needed to be seperated from the army for breaking a lawful order, even though we made voluntary confessions. Were infantrymen, we volunteered to get shot at, we got problems that followed us into the military, but we were fixing them. Now were being spit back on the street like trash while people laugh at us, people who drink and get fat, lie, hit their wives, yell at their kids, get dui's, really shitty people, but I'M the shitty person? Cuz I smoked spice and incense as a means to stop drinking and deal with stress in my own way so I wouldn't have to slow down or slow anyone else down?

It appears to me that you didn't get kicked because of your drug problem(s), you got kicked because you were stupid and a snitch.

The drug charge was merely the official reason.

Whine elsewhere.

That was difficult to read right up until you say that you enjoy the 'black hole people spiral into.' At that point, I realised you are a f*cking nutcase. If you think that the pit that a meth addict falls into is a beautiful piece of the world, that's messed up.
#25
You have a psychological problem. It's cool to chill out and smoke now and then but you've named 3 types of drugs and were dependent on them daily. And it cost you your job.

cool story commandant

Debatable, but you should for ratting our your comrades. snitches be bitches
#27
Should I be discharged from the military for smoking spice and tell me why

Because it's against the rules. If everyone in the military was allowed to do what they want, that would go against the whole point of it.

Woah, who said I had a drug problem? You've been talking to that counselor at ASAP that thinks a beer bong is the device used to inhale alcohol. Drugs are out there man, and guess what? We're going to get tired of getting shit on and decide to give people something to really be scared of. We're all going to get really really high on the next big thing, were going to knock on your door with huge red eyes and smiles and skin your entire family in front of you. Then were going to eat the skin and laugh at you. Then were going to make a game out of slapping each other with the skin. That's what you all want to see right? That's what everyone says we do. So lets do it. Let's just ****ing do it!
New drugs. Drugs that promote violence, homicidal thoughts, insanity. **** trying to convince everyone that drugs are ok. We've lost the fight. Let's turn it around and bring them what they FEAR! Just gotta smoke up real quick, maaan.

I once smoked spice...high lasted all but 5 minutes. Had to drink a 2 liter Pepsi to get that awful taste outta my mouth.

P.S. When did the Pit become an insane asylum?

I'm forced by the army to see a psychiatrist once a week, duuuuude. But there's nothing wrong with me. Sorry that I'm more evolved than the rest of ya'll. Go watch some tv and numb out. Drugs, E!, video games, all the same shit. Just distraction from the fact that Satan is walking right next to you

Well, it's more a Victorian insane asylum where you have one nutcase in the middle, and all the rich, not f*cked up people come along to point and laugh.

This is your own fault. First of all, you should have never smoked before working. Next, you knew you were breaking the rules; you shouldn't have been smoking in the first place. If you insisted on smoking this useless shit, you should have kept your mouth shut. Additionally, why the hell did you tell on other people? Even if you excelled at your job, it doesn't matter. This is entirely justified. You broke the rules and the military is a very orderly organization. You'll be replaced by, hopefully, someone who respects their job enough to follow the rules.
