I thought it had to be, I knew they were in no way a screamo band

I've never really listened to screamo, maybe I'll give it a second chance
* goes to listen to some of the suggested bands*

Edit: I'd take me off the list of who to listen to, I don't really listen to screamo. I do like being on it though.

I had Indian Summer originally, but I took them off. Drive Like Jehu I never really listened to but that was word of mouth and they are associated with them. I've listened to at least 90% of the list I made and I knew you guys would help me with the rest.

Add 1905, Belle Epoque, Et Tu Brute, I reckons they all fit here.

Who you should listen to in this thread:

fenderfreak101

WTF? I listen to like two screamo bands.
And if ever You come near, I will hold up high a mirror.
Lord, I could never show you anything as beautiful as You.
#27
Yeah you should list me as well
ya jerk.

A Fine Boat, That Coffin!; A Day in Black and White, End of a Year, Fire Team Charlie, The Maps Says We're ****ed, Nervous Light of Sunday, 1000 Travels Of Jawaharlal, Takaru, Adonis Battlefield, Transistor Transistor, Boa Narrow, Daniel Striped Tiger, Danse Macabre, Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep, Helen Of Troy, Look Back and Laugh, Usurp Synapse, Sinaloa, An Albatross, Life At These Speeds, and Raein.
should all be added among others.

should probably include some labels like Level Plane, Stick Figure and Robotic Empire.

Also On the Might of Princes is a post-hardcore band. Might want Still Life in there though.

Good idea. I just listed them. If you or anyone else has any more labels let us know. Also thanks for all the other bands I missed/didn't know.

Can anyone recommend some bands to get someone into Screamo? Indian Summer are one of my favourite bands and I like I Hate Myself, Portraits Of Past, Heroin and Puritan a lot, but that's about as far as I've got.

have you listened to I Would Set Myself On Fire For You?
they're sort of a post-rock screamo band
and they're probably my personal favorite.
you could also try City of Caterpillar.

If you want fast and aggressive check out Ampere. Or if you want technical check out hot cross. Or city of Caterpillar for lots of instrumental. And if you really like I Hate Myself check out Die Hoffnug, which is his current band.
#37
Cheers guys I'll have a look at Myspaces of these. I really like post rock/math rock with shouting/screaming a la Rodan, June of 44, A Minor Forest (not screamo bands obviously) and Indian Summer, if that's a good point of reference.

yeah I'd def check out I Would Etc, City of Caterpillar, and Gospel. They all flirt with their Post-rock and Math influences very well.

and if you guys can recommend some bands similar to those I'd really appreciate it as well. Ever since I Would Etc. broke up I've been looking for a band to fill the post-rock/screamo absence.

Thanks man, I'm pretty sure you'll have heard them already, but if not check out A Minor Forest, particularly the Album 'Flemish Altrusim', I think you'll definitely like it.
