some songs just don't work if you change them.

others are great when a band puts their own spin on it.
my band does Chameleon by Herbie Hancock and theres no shot we do a note for note cover of it. we put over own spin on it by doing open improvs in it. makes it fun.
Own spin...It doesn't count if you just put more distortion though.

Rodrigo and Gabriella's acoustic cover of Metallica's Orion seems to be a mix between the first two choices. The best cover ever made of any song imo.
