Well, seeing as i cannot find a band, and i am quite good at acoustic and can somewhat sing. I want to start gigging but by myself with me and my acoustic. I really like this idea, but i dont know where to start to look at where i can play.

I was thinking bars, but i do not know if there is an 18 age limit. I think i could easily entertain drunken people with music and singing and jokes.

Any help would be nice

ive seen underagers play in bars, but not usually solo acoustic. usually old men playing favorites really who do that, bands do it but then your back to your original problem.

Exactly my problem

i dont know how odd it would be for me to play in a bar, by myself

i sure as hell want to do it, but they will probably get bored sooner or later.

or whatever really.
A new question is,
are there any other places?

start off busking. then busk in more popular places. Once you've figured out what people like etc., move onto bars
We walked into the night

Am I to bid you farewell?

Why can't you see that I try
When every tear I shed

Is for you?

Coffee shops? I know one that does an open mic night or something. I think they have specific people playing sometimes aswell.
#9
I would think later at night an acoustic set at a bar would be nice.

Y'know, the whole... dark, blue, gloomy-ish foggy night scene... I can just see it. But not like, in the early evening. Hell no. It just doesn't fit.

are you in the UK or US?

because with the UK alcohol limit 18 and US 21 it's more of a difference

there are local music venues you could play like 100 people sized, try and get some like friends and associates who play at these places or bars and just try and edge in

This.
Also include Bob Dylan in your setlist. Everyone loves Bob Dylan.

You also have to worry about selling tickets. I know my band had to stop because everyone who listens to us went broke, and we lost money at our last gig.
Does being successful truly make you a sell out? Can't you do your own original music and be successful because of it?
#15
Get a camera or something.
Record you playing /singing a song
And put it on youtube.
Advertise yourself, make a name for yourself etc etc get subscribers, enter the youtube word

And maybe you will become well known and able to do stuff like this.
Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH in Crimson Red
Reverend Sensei HB FM in Tobacco Burst
Fender Vintage C Neck, HH, Surf Green Nitrocellulose (Handmade)

Egnater Rebel-30 MKI Head

nah man it shouldn't matter how old you are, my brothers drummer was playing in bars at 16 (drinking age is 19 here in Canada) and if you're lucky they won't even ask you for i.d and you can get drunk too! The bar I go to has switched to acoustic for the winter because they felt bands were too loud (silly, I know), as long as you sing too and are jamming lots of cover tunes you shouldn't have a problem getting a gig, getting decent coin will be the hard part, but music shouldn't be about money
#18
I used to work at a resturant with a bar in it. They had live music every weekend. Some of the bands IMO were awful but those drunk people still loved it. Especially if they knew the song. Me and a friend who worked there and were great friends with the owner. We played a few times. It was me on guitar and singing and my buddy on drums. They enjoyed it quite well. I say try to learn what kind and age of people will be there and learn some songs that would have been HITS to them. It works! Good Luck!
#19
You have to ask them, there is nothing wrong with asking, as some will let you play underage and some won't, regardless there is usually a procedure for this, I'm sure some places do it where you can play if you parents are with you.

I know at a local restaurant here it was technically legal to let underage people play in the bar/lounge. The only problem was that the kids would have their friends come in which they couldn't do.

I'd ask around if I were you. You're lucky that you can sing because i've always wished to be a folk singer songwriter on acoustic. Sigh.

I bet you can man,
its taken me two years of myself practicing with my voice, imagine if i actually got help lol.
But i think if you can write a guitar piece on acoustic that pleases the ears, you could SPEAK one verse the whole time and people will be amazed

Age for playing doesn't matter at all
I've been going to bars since I was 14 or 15
(olol, cover charge!)

but yeah, IT DEPENDS ON THE BAR, CHECK WITH THEM, not the pit...
