As some of you may know I have now gotten my second defective bugera.

So one more time UG I ask for your assistance:

- I have a schecter hellraiser with emg's
- I play melodic metal and I like covering tool
- Please less than 100 watts, 120 was too much for me I think.
- No bugera's and no randalls (I can't find one to try out, thus I will not buy one, I've already looked believe me)

Please help me.

A used Mesa Single recto or a B-52 AT series. My single recto gets me a pretty good Tool sound but it took alot of tweaking and I had to mod the FX loop to get the delay to sound right when using distortion. I have a clip of me covering Eon Blue Apocalypse in my profile. If you want I could put a clip of some tool stuff with distortion tomorrow.

Say I up it to a grand what then?

Thats $1000.00 to buy a tube amp that does melodic metal good and will last a good part of a lifetime.

Preferably an amp that has a presence knob, has a good mid cut somewhere, and is a combo.

I'm not saying these are all perfect for you but worth a look. Otherwise, see if you can find a used XXX or Ultra Plus or 5150.

PS - sorry to see your bad luck lately.

Ok I'd check out the B-52 AT series or Peavey's XXX amps. I'd just take back the Bugera and get another one.
#11
I'm basically in love with my Peavey XXX 212 combo. My only issue is that shortly after I got it I was forced to move into a shitty condominium where I can't turn the master volume up past 3 or 4 without summoning the police. This amp is powerful as hell.

can you read?

If you're in a major city i'd consider going used. It takes patience but you can find some gems out there. I picked up my recto used for $600. Sorry to hear about the amps.

The difference in 100 watts and 120 watts will be minimal really....
I've bought, sold, and traded more gear than I care to admit.

So a b52 at100?

Ok. but it has bad reviews on some sites...

B-52, used 5150, Krank Rev Jr.

And the B-52 is a nice amp. All their qc issues have been taken care of. Nice amps/

all?

Well then I have to ask how tight is its gain and does it have a midcut/presense knob?

Not a metal amp. Even cranked with an OD it struggles to do metal.
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.
#23
Man I just wanna get my cranked tool tones outta my amp. So much to ask for?

I guess so, since I'm asking to get the sounds of a diezel at a fifth of the price... T_T

Thought a bugera could do that but then two of them failed on me.

Ive had mine for a year with no issues on it. It's got a good amount of tight gain.

Peavey valveking 212 or 112 is the best amp in that price range, much better than the bugera.

5150/6505?

its strange to think you were the first to suggest that. your gonna be forced to look used i think, but its gonna be worth it. if not that, theres peavey ultras and XXX's (which are discontinued so you might need to look used, again), krank rev jr has very tight gain, so i'd check that out. and you could also look at B-52's.

A VK is capable of doing metal stock but they're far from the best amp in that price range...

Perhaps an ENGL Thunder Drive or a used Screamer?

Do yourself a favor and DON'T get a valveking if you wanna play metal. The cleans are pretty nice, but you can't get a good metal tone out of the combo to save your life.

Never seriously considered the valveking as anything else than a nice practice amp.

I'm just looking for something good. Price is negotiable. I mean I don't want to spend 7 grand on a diezel herbert (although if I could I would but I can't so bleh) to get that mean sound.

think about this TS

a new amp has never been put through any sort of trials, you never know if they are completely functional or not

a used amp however, has been played and tested for a while, and actually, can work better than a new amp

i say go for a used single rectoverb, im sure you could find one under a grand

See, I understand that. But my dad is supplying 400 dollars in the purchase... so IDK.

Preferably, I'd get a used mesa roadster because I know about how f'ing thick and rich the distortion on a mesa usually is. I'll check out my craigslist in ny for something mesaish and go try it out.

But that does mean no warranty though... so if it breaks down what do I do?
