Howdy all,

I have thick fingers and I keep thinking that a wider fretboard might suit me better.

Which guitars have the widest neck (and the most distance between the strings)?

Thanks!

Gibsons don't have wide necks. They have fat necks.

Ibanez guitars have wide necks.

thatll prolly just **** up the neck. I have big hands and I definately dont have a problem with the spacing between strings on my gibson. The spacing is not a problem for ppl with big hands

Jackson, ibanez, And classical guitars.
Ibanez necks are thin, wide, and flat.
MY presonal choise.
Jacksons are a little thicker.
Classical guitars although definately win in this department.
If only there were electrics with classical sized necks, then i could give you a perfect awnser.

Of course, it's a seven-string.
Parker has the widest necks I've ever seen on an electric guitar. So wide, in fact, they remind me of classical acoustics.

Its a thick neck too...
In general guitars that are usually implimented with shred have wider necks.

Jackson, Ibanez, the sort.

I highly recomend you try those.
Also a few ESPs have wider necks if your lucky.

Instead of getting another guitar, why not have Warmoth (www.warmoth.com) build you a custom neck. They also have tons of necks already built in several different dimensions and woods that are direct replacements for strats. I am assuming that is the guitar you would want to put it on if you went this route. I have ordered 4 necks from them in the past and they are better than any stock neck I have ever played. What's an "extremely wide neck" anyways? Most mainstream guitars either have a 42 mm nut measurement or a 43 mm. Scarcely a dramatic difference for most people. Ibanez Wizard and Parker Fly necks mentioned are 43mm. So are Soloist and Les Paul necks, if I am not mistaken. But that's not to say they're wide as an eight lane highway.

String spacing, bridge post spacing, and neck taper come into play.

Most guitars have at least 1/8" between the outside strings and the edge of the fretboard, and bridge spacing can be between 48mm and 53mm.

Ibanez. That's why I hate them. Worst neck profile ever. Really wide and flat.

Cwatididthar?

I have big hands and love thin necks.
My rythymn guitarist has tiny hands "TEENY LITTLE LEPRICON HANDS!" ad thats why he doesnt like ibanez.
