The inspiration for this song came from a friend who was in a rut and turned to me to help him out. We've all had times in our life when we're called on to help others with whatever problems they're facing at that time, this is a song about that.

VERSE
I write my lyrics, like I like my cocaine
One line at a time, life in the fast lane
No need to change anything that I am
Standing for my beliefs with all that I can
Cause I won't live life in a one-way society
With people who aren't even fit to guide me
It's as likely as me finding sobriety
But I can get through it, so why don't you follow me

CHORUS
And quit living by such foreign rules
It's not what you say, it's what you do
So I'll live my life one lyric at a time
With the hope one day they'll light up my life

VERSE
Just follow me, and you will see
This life isn't meant to be bittersweet
Shed some light on all thats dark
And take charge of your life from the start
Start changing how you look at things
And maybe your feelings won't feel so strange
And I may not be that rich or famous
But follow me and lets make some changes

CHORUS
And quit living by such foreign rules
It's not what you say, it's what you do
So I'll live my life one lyric at a time
With the hope one day they'll light up and shine

didn't blow me away. I personally think that you should take out the "follow me" talk (lyrics) and reserve them for either the chorus OR the verse, NOT both. It seems to lighten the focus of the piece, and it's the name of the piece to boot. I did like the lyrics reference, but thought it was a little overdone when it's brought back into the chorus. If you're going to use it in both, I'd figure a new way to present it in one or the other. I guess overall, I just could hear a decent hook in this one. But cheers for writing a song, stupid poets on here all over the place. LOL. JK.
