and can i do it through the usb?

I don't know how you could use it as a MIDI controller but you can't use it through the USB port, you need a MIDI card.

Not really. It's just specialized terminology in a certain field. Doesn't have much to do with time differences.

But it has more to do with the fact that it's specialized terminology. An ordinary person 30 years ago wouldn't have understood anything in the fields of neuroscience or quantum physics or advanced mechanics either. And actually, the field of electronic music technology did exist 30 years ago.
