I found a hidden track at the end of one of my songs (Bruce Springsteen's Terry's Song on Devils Arcade) and I want to isolate it into its own track.

Basically I want to cut a piece of a song and make it into its own song.

Its in mp4 format downloaded from itunes.

I have audacity, but when I import it the 9 minute 32 second song gets squeezed into 1 second. Literally.
I tried converting it into .wav using switch but then it has no music. As in no sound.

I'm using a mac btw.

Help please?

anyone with a comment that might help?

I do. That guy's a douche.

Audacity doesn't like .mp4. If you're using the latest version of iTunes, right-click the song in your library and click Create MP3 Version. See if Audacity likes that better.

If you're using an older version, it works better. Open up your Preferences and set iTunes to import songs as .wav files, then right-click the song in your Library and click Convert to WAV. Do your thing in Audacity.

Afterwards, make sure to delete the .wav's and convert the new track to .mp4 because MP4 is a really good compression while WAV is enormous.

If you're in the newest version (I think you are) you can change this.

Cmd-, brings up Preferences. Under General, there's a button that says Import Settings... in a really awful place. Click that and change it to WAV encoder, then you can convert to WAV.

If its protected, can't you defeat that by burning it to CD and ripping it from CD?

You're pfeuked because you don't have any CDs. That's how you defeat Protection.

AAC == MP4, I believe. No problem!
