Hey guys
I'm planning on buying an Epiphone Dove. I've been looking a long time for an older Epi Dove version with mic, but havn't found one... So I was planing on maybe buying a new on (which is only acoustic) and would like to have it miced. So my questions are, can an acoustic be miced (put a mic inside it, and even an EQ on the side)? Would it effect the sound? Is it worth it?

Thanks in advanced! /José

Yeah, you can mic an acoustic that way. Is it a good idea? Well that depends on why you want to mic it. So why do you want to mic it?

You could just by an acoustic pickup, they're not too expensive if you want a cheaper one. That way you could just go straight into your interface/pre-amp.

Well the main reason is to be able to make it sound louder through an amp. Also since I ordered my first electric guitar and gear (have gotten everything, amp pedals etc etc, except for the guitar..) already waited 1 month for it and the store doesn't even have a date for it yet... So i would like to be able to try the amp and stuff out with it too. But again, mainly to be able to gig with it through an amp.

Hehe and please tell me if you think it's worth it, you left me hanging there :P

Your acoustic is going to sound horrible through an electric amp.

So to answer your question, no it's not worth it. If you want to play it live, the easiest solution for you would be to buy a soundhole pickup.

Yea heard that before that it sounds bad through an electric, but the VOX AC15 got pretty good cleans, doesn't that help? But ok, If I mic it, and just play it unplugged, would it be a huge sound difference from being miced or not? I mean would the micing make it sound worse?

However good it sounds on your electric amp, an acoustic amp would make it sound a million times better. No, having a mic in there won't really affect your sound too much. But you don't need it. And as far as amplification goes, of all your options, that's probably the worse, in my opinion.
