my friends got this computer and its like brand new, but sometimes when he goes on the internet, the homepage keeps coming like when i click on it to close they just keep popping up. can someone tell me whats wrong please?

That's not the CPU. Try restarting the computer to see if that helps. Try scanning for a virus too, my computer did that once and it was from a trojan (kind of virus not a condom, figured I should explain that, this is the pit after all ).

If worst comes too worst a OS reinstall should wipe out anything and fix any problems.

Hope this helps.

Most likely spyware. From porn. Pop-ups are always a sure-fire way to tell something is installed that shouldn't be.

Uhh... that has absolutely nothing to do with his CPU. You should probably check out what a CPU is before you ask about it... that problem is all software related. And yeah, get Firefox or something.

In my experience, people that know nothing about computers think that CPU is short for computer, or that the terms CPU, PC, and computer are interchangeable.

My progressive rock project, Mosaic

CPU is a processor, a specific part of the computer.
PC just stands for Personal Computer.

No he doesn't.
IE likes to spam itself because the glitch has NEVER been fixed.

...I used to call the tower the monitor

"CPU" and "Hard Drive" are the two most popular, I think. Especially from the kinds of people that come into our shop where I work.

You are messing up your terms...

"CPU" relates to the processor...that main chip in the case mounted on the motherboard.
The "Computer" or "Tower" is the whole thing and that is what you should have put in your title.

Anyways it sounds like some virus. Runs scans in safe mode and if you need to, reformat and reinstall the operating system.

And SWITCH TO FIREFOX!!!

Oh yeah. That's definitely true from what I've seen.

Because if your computer's CPU is damaged, I don't see how you'd manage to make it onto the internet.
