Growing up in CT I never questioned the fact that alcohol couldn't be bought or sold after 8 PM or on Sundays and I never realized this was not the case everywhere until high school. During college, many border runs were made at night to get alcohol from NY state.

I did some research today just to see what was up with the Blue Laws and if they were anywhere else and according to wikipedia, it is illegal to hunt on Sundays as well as view porn, which can cause a jail sentence of up to 5 years.

Does anyone else have a shared experience with their own state/province's Blue Laws?

It's illegal to watch porn on Sundays in CT?
Really?

I can't say for sure, but I've probably done that in the past...

Liquor stores here are usually open to 11, some even later or all night!

Then, when I was in Ontario attempting to purchase some beerz, I was unable too because they all close at 6pm there. I was upset about this.

In Texas you can't buy beer before noon on Sunday.

In Louisiana you can buy hard liquor at a convenience store, and the drinking age in Louisiana is only 19.

they were laws that enforced the keeping of the christian sabbath (sunday) by outlawing hunting, alcohol, porn, and even having a business open.

they're not as strict as they used to be, but it's another relic of new england's puritan past

It's like, not being allowed to buy work related products on Sunday because of the Sabbath.

I go to college in Minnesota where liquor stores close at 10, and they close at 11 in Wisconsin.

My house is a 10 minute drive and a 27 minute WALK to a liquor store 'cross the Mississippi River in Wisconsin.

In PA, liquor and beer distributors aren't even allowed to be open on sunday. Also, you have to buy beer from beer distributors. Supermarkets don't have any, convenience stores don't have any, only beer distributors (state stores).

Don't bitch about your stores closing at 8

I'm not bitching, I'm just saying I always thought it was normal but I found out it wasn't.

I think Canada does the state stores too, but I'm not sure

Not that uncommon. Minnesota can have private liquor stores, however the catch is supermarkets/convenience stores can only sell beer with a maximum alcohol content of 3.2%. It's a waste of money, beer generally has more than this (4-5%), so it's as if they don't carry it at all for me. The amazing thing is breweries actually bother to make weaker beers just for us and any other state that has this stupid law.

here people sell alcohol til 1 in the morning.

we sell on sunday as well, at costco even.
