I've been listening to some rap lately, and I wanted to know if any of you could recommend some rap songs that have a dark, melancholy feel to it, about real things.
like-

One Mic- Nas
Feel It In The Air- Beanie Sigal or Styles P
Ms. Jackson- OutKast

I already have tons of Tupac, so don't recommend him.

Susanne by Plan B.
That song is just creepy but very dark.

If any others come to mind, I'll edit them in.

EDIT - DAMN YOU FOR SAYING NOT TO RECOMMEND 'PAC.
I deeply regret the 6661 in my username. Siiiigh. Damn you, 14 year old me, you edgy little bastard.

Listen to FbcFabric and Reindeer. My favorite hiphop thing so far. Also 13 and God. Not pure rap, it's like... alternative with rapping.
My gear:
Schecter C-1+ w/ Seymour duncan Jazz (neck) and Full Shred (bridge), with Sperzels
B-52 LG-100A 4x12 half stack
Rogue LX405 Bass
Yamaha classical
Some sort of acoustic Squier
Boss Flanger

Yeah, I've got all those Immortal Technique songs.

I don't mean I don't like Tupac, I love the guy. I just have a lot of his songs... and I kinda wanna see what else is out there besides him.

Just listen to Nas's "Illmatic".

Especially "Life's a Bitch"
Mother Earth is pregnant for the third time
For y'all have knocked her up.
I have tasted the maggots in the mind of the universe
I was not offended
For I knew I had to rise above it all
Or drown in my own shit.

Why is it that some folks quote praise from other members in their sig lines?
Its lame.

A really dark and artful song:
The Coolest - Lupe Fiasco

The song is a part of a concept album, so you probably won't catch the whole theme of it by itself. But it's a good standalone song too. It says 'n!gga' a lot more than he usually does because he's playing a character in this song.

Check out his website and stuff. It breaks down the whole concept of his album. He's the best current-gen rapper out, IMO.

Sittin' in a Bar and Bottles & Can by Rehab

Way Back When by Buck 65 (This is disputable, I find it to be kind of dark)

Soon you will sit on the bench
of those who deny I have my soul
You sell a dream you create
Condemned by what you condemned before
Smooth are the words you sing down and high
Underground is your joy your laws

^yeah, there is a studio version on his album The Dusty Foot Philosopher, but it's just the chorus. its like a 30 second track.

i don't think there is a studio version with all the lyrics.
