Setup:
MIM Strat
Behringer V-tone GMX-210

I have been playing a lot of metal lately, and my tone is just garbage. It's just this really damp, ****ty distortion. I've tried just about every setting, but nothing sounds good. I'm not 100% sure what forum to put this in... because I don't know what my weak link is.

Is it the guitar? The amp? Should I get pedals?

Completely clueless, any help would be greatly appreciated. ~$300 or less.

new amp and maybe a distortion pedal. Your strat might sound decent then, but you honestly would be better of getting a guitar with humbuckers.

I'd say the main problem is the amp. Other than that, try putting a stacked humber in your strat to beef up the tone a bit.
