Yeah, if you feel there is something lacking in your sound then post a clip here and we'll try to add another brain into the mix. Maybe we'll hear something you're not hearing and it's all the difference.

Sounds cool guys, I'll borrow a mic from the school and mic up my amp someday and post it.

Right. I hope I am doing this right.....

I own a Ibanez GSR200 (Cheap replacement bass). I am saving for an Ibanez SR505 or a 506 ( 5 string and 6 string ) but won't be able to get it until about 2009 or 2010 even.

My bass sounds a bit like:
http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/Martin259/skills/play462639
(with tone down to 0 because it's crap on 10. No effects or EQ.).

The GSR bass has a Jazz style pickup and a presion style pickup, I only used the Jazz one in the recording on a flat EQ from a Fender Rumble 15 amp. No effects pedal. I do own a Boss: ME50 pedal however.

I use Ernie Ball slinky strings on medium gauge.

Might try that. My mic is one of those that boost's lower frequencies anyway which is painfully annoying. I just wanted to make it a bit less depressing sounding. Thanks.

What kind of speakers and sound cards do you guys have? It's hard to accurately critique someone's tone with your average computer speaker setup.

I would contribute to this thread, but I'm still running my onboard sound card through stock speakers. I'm planning on picking up a decent system at some point, but I'll probably wait until after the holidays.

its not bad on its own, but I think if it was recorded or used in a band situation it wouldn't be so hot.

it needs some midrange and treble, but that may be lacking from the tone control being set to 0

Yeah. I just wanted to let you know how it played without an EQ.

Sounds awesome, the recording is a little muffled on the bleh track, but you cut through very well on the larry carlton track. I love the crunch on the bleh track though, now I really want an orange.

The playing is very nice too, you got a nice jazzy/bluesy/shred thing going on in the carlton track, though there did seem to be points with too many pinch harmonics.

Overall, amazing, you're a great player with great tone.

thanks bro

yeah, my amp and speaker were on polar opposites in my room in the LC track, so i just threw down my mic in the middle rofl.

As for the pinch harmonics, yeah, i need to start picking softer. I'll keep that in mind, though, thanks.
