Hello, I went to GC yesterday and bought the MXR M-86 Classic Distortion pedal for $29.99 ... Good Deal

But this morning I first connected the 9-volt battery, its not showing as powered. I do have a power adapter by line 6 that works with my pod which does say INPUT: 120 V AC, OUTPUT 9 V, AC.

On the pedal itself, it says 9V. So what is the trouble at first with the battery and should I use the line 6 one?

no. NO. do not connect the line 6 adapter. it can/will fry your pedal.

why?

most mxr pedals use barrel negative DC power inputs. i am almost certain the line 6 type is barrel positive AC. if you connect the two, you will shortly see smoke from the inside of the pedal.

wait, the line 6 is also barrel negative, but it will still fry the pedal becasue of the different current types.

Seagull, I just connected it with the guitar cables and into the amp. When i pop the switch on, it lets my straight guitar tone go through, but no distortion and the red indicator light isnt even on
