I'm going to be asking for a new set of pickups for my guitar for christmas.
I just purchased an epiphone LP custom (silverburst) and I currently just have stock pickups

I mostly play experimental rock (mars volta, fall of troy, straylight run, coheed and cambria), alternative(muse, jimmy eat world, taking back sunday, saosin[?]), acoustic, or metal, such as killswitch engage

I love using pinch harmonics so I want decent high end, but that's pretty much all the "knowledge" I have

I really don't know too much about pickups, so what type should I get?
I was looking into EMG's, but those are really expensive
DiMarzio looks like they might have what I need.

Maybe a Duncan JB/59 setup? Either that or maybe Dimarzio PAFs. Different sounds, but both might work.
Alvarez dreadnought
Gibson SG
EC-1000
Homemade Strat (seymour duncan classic stack p/ups)
Vox Tonelab (original desktop model) with full board footswitch
Vox AD50

Don't buy pickups if you have just bought a new guitar.

Play it for a few months, and then see what you would like to tweak about your tone, then look at pickups that will give you that extra "thing" you want.

Epiphone Les Paul Standard w/ SD Alnico Pro II's
Fender Aerodyne Telecaster & Stratocaster
Marshall JCM 800 4104 combo

You shouldn't be looking to replace pickups just because "they're stock pickups", that's just being a sheep and doing stuff because you've heard other people do it and it sounds cool.

It takes a while to get a feel for a new guitar and figure out how to get the best from it with the rest of your rig.

yeah it is, but the thing is I can't afford a better amp.
I can get a good set up pickups for 80-100 dollars
but any decent amp is at least 250

just get money for Christmas, then save for an amp. But if you insist on pups, try the SD sh-6/jazz combo

Paying for pickups will just be burning money for a change you won't hear.

Save the money and wait till after xmas to get a nice amplifier.
