well, I have a cheap squier stratocaster in my closet somewhere, and I also have a original floyd rose tremolo system from a project i won't be able to finish... due to lack of money and wood working equipment.

If i were to route out the tremolo cavity of the strat to fit the floyd rose, would it be all subtraction, or would I have to put in some wood filler/ wood blocks in order to get to work?

Or can I do it without "extensive" work?

Edit;
Also, I'm gonna have a moment to mourn the end of my last project, i bought 1000 usd's worth of guitar hardware and wood, and was gonna use my friend's bandsaw to cut it. And now he lives to far away for me to go so I can cut the wood...

so i'm probably gonna put the hardware into the strat, profile the neck, and repaint it

there is gotta be someone who'd let you use a bandsaw, neighbor's, maybe a teacher at your local school if you talked with him.

my school is pretty small, no one really does wood working there

I'm not wasting my money on a squier strat, I'm just putting it in there until I can find somewhere to work my wood(which will take forever)

and my neighbors don't really like me... they think i vandalized there house with eggs and bb guns.. which i didn't do

and my friends don't do any woodworking either

isnt there a lowes or home depot or something near you? SOMEWHERE has to have a saw you could use, or pay to use.

dont give up on that, it will be worth it

if i wasnt "a fan" of a certain product or company and needed to use it id just use it and get it over with instead of complaining i cant do something.

for example, i dont like imports much, but if my house is about to blow up and the only way i can get away is a honda civic in my driveway im going to get in it and get my ass out of there, not whine that i dont like imports and then die

just go do it, im sure if you went to either store and said "hey, do you think i could cut this out here?" and most likely if its quick they may not even charge yo

it takes like 5 minutes to cut a body out on a bandsaw, and if you are good at cutting it takes another 5 minutes to sand it to shape. thne 5 minutes or so for each route.

lol, it took me an hour 40 min to cut out a rough cut of the body... he had an old bandsaw with old blades, so i kept on telling myself it was the bandsaw not me

have you considered doing it by hand? I mean, it'd take ages, but you could cut exess off with a normal handsaw, then get laid into it with a chisel or a grinderette or something and finish off with a sharp rasp. - I mean, anything behind the line is waste, so it really doesn't matter how you treat it.

i was told by my friend that if i did it by hand i would mess up, and I've seen a build with a handsaw, and it didn't look nearly as good as someone with powertools did
