I am in need of a new, cheap amp mainly for practicing but loud enough to play with a drummer.

I was thinking of buying this...
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Line-6-Spider-III-75-Combo-Amplifier?sku=482272

...But I have heard that Line 6 Spider III amps are not to be recommended...

I'd prefer the amp to have plenty of distortion, amazing cleans are not required but I'd like them.

Crate V series don't have much distortion.

I'd have said Roland Cube but it seems you already have one, so my suggestion would be to look used and see if you can find any Randall RG50TCs or similar.

My roland is the one that died. I'll try but I'm strapped for cash right now, because of Christmas and all that.

I wonder how many amps they broke before they got one to play afterwards.

A comment says it was their first take. The video itself is from Crate Amplifications, I doubt they'd lie.

If you want another deceased amp then the spider is the one to buy. There are many far better brands to buy. Save some money for something decent. Or you will keep ending up with cheap mediocre amps.

Ummm.... Both Line 5, and Crate make tube amps. Who's ignorant? FTW.

Haha, don't act like thats what you were talking about.

Of course I know that they make tube amps dip****. Have you seen any reports of the Line 6 Spider Valve failing? I haven't. You also act as if Line 6 make crappy amps, yet they have the best modelling amps without a doubt, their highest offerings can even rival tube amps.

By the way, your placement of FTW made no sense.

Also, you said cheap Line 6 and Crate, so unless you're sitting on piles of money, the good amps they make aren't cheap. Same with Crate.

And herein lies the problem. We have a differing opinion of what a cheap amp is. IMO any Crate tube amp is a cheap amp.

When did I ever say it was on par with those amps? Of course its not, those are worth insane amounts of money.

I really fail to see your argument. Most amps are literally cheap in comparison to those, not just Crates.

Seriously, don't get a spider. Get a Peavey Vypyr 75. (It's funny how many modeling amps there are named after animals).

Actually the build quality on the Spider Valve isn't to bad. Im just not a big fan of Crate build quality or tone.
