Hi,

I currently have a Boss SYB-5 synth pedal and an Ibanez TS9DX turbo tubescreamer, but I'd like to get a tone similar to that of "Time Is Running Out" by Muse and "Animal" by Black Light Burns - the heavy synth sound (that the SYB-5 provives), but at a constant volume level. So (after reading the FAQs) I assume that a compressor would be the way to go.

Is my assumption right? Can you recommend a pedal that would do this with the SYB-5?

Compressor would help sustain for sure!

I use a BBE Optostomp. Very transparent, very subtle but I've noticed it tighten up my sound a lot. Adds definition and keeps the low end under control. Not even noticed any hiss that is typically produced with compression.

Dual Band compressors are good too as they allow you to compress the lows and highs seperately. Unfortunatly the optostomp doesnt have this ability but I would whole heartedly recommend it.
