Hot. Personally, I like thongs.

and I don't mean the underwear.

But hey, here's a crazy idea..REPLACE IT PERHAPS?

D'Addario rule over every string..imo.

call me cold if you will, but it really doesn't matter. all strings are made to the same general quality and specifications, just with different brand names. however, if you're going to be tuning up 3 half steps in some cases (B to a D?!), you'll want super light strings or you're going to mess up your bridge hardcore.

I was in a nu-metal band when I was 15. I hated the top 3 strings (G,B, and E). I wondered why guitars even had them.

I remember this one time - Jesus played Eruption on a lute with strings made from the hair of 23 virgins.

It was pretty hardcore.

I'm pretty sure they did, it's just getting old. I was a total band geek in high school, so I heard it all the time.

In my experiences, Eixirs have been very fragile strings. I've heard that Cleartones are very good and durable(and expensive) strings, but don't quote me on that.

Probably should have taken this question to Acoustic & Classical. They're tone nazis over there. Now, my opinion is D'Addario Phosphor Bronze lights have the nicest tone. Nice rich lows, bright and jangly highs. It's like the perfect combination of tone and playability. But that's just me.

I've had my acoustic for 2.5 years and I have never changed the G string. I have changed all the others but when I was changing them the new g string broke Its all bent and unwound above the frets and makes horrible noise.

The thinner the strings are, the less tension they require to be tuned to higher pitches. Heavier strings need to be tuned tighter. But then, lighter gauge strings are weaker than heavy gauge strings, so the difference is negligible.

My advice: Don't play Goo Goo Dolls, or look for tabs of their songs transposed to other tunings.
The below is false.
The above is true.

This is bad for your strings and frowned upon. Large changes in tuning effect the neck and intonation of a guitar.

Pick a tuning, stick with it.

When you said your G-string snapped, I immediately peeped your profile, hoping you were a chick, at which point I was going to demand that if you made such a post, that you at least show pics. But then I remembered that this is a guitar forum. And I suddenly became very sad.
