Ok, So i lost my capo and i am pretty much broke and i have a gig like soon, before i get paid, so i wqas wondering if theres any alternitive aside from tuning it up, cause that would prob break my guitar, or anything else that would destroy my strings/body or guitar

thanks in advance

Dick+strings= owww

buy a new one

edit:
nevermind.. didnt read the whole thing
yeah try some rubber bands with something marker-shaped
a marker, being plastic, might make a kind of tinny noise though, no?

cant buy a new one, i get paid after my gig, and my band mates are douches and only have one :/

and the marker thing... does it work?

kinda

but capos are like 15 bucks, you couldn't like borrow that from someone and pay them back later.
grok it.

Learn Bar Chords

What if he's not playing chords?

And I agree with the above posts, use a rubber band.

A chord is any grouping of more than 2 notes played at once, and i really hope he doesn't need a capo for diad runs, or the open note in a scale

PS Arpeggio is still a chord in fact its latin for broken chord

Fine. What if he's playing a chord that he couldn't reach while a finger is barring?

well then there's room for improvement without it, i'm not trying to be a dick, just saying try the stuff without a capo you'll be surprised what you learn

i can play alot, but im gonna say this once, my gig involves alot of soloing so yeah, im doing some metalica covers, and some original songs, so i cant reach it

have someone bar it with their finger for as long as you need it.

how would that look on stage?

Or what if he is finger picking a fast song, that you need a capo because your fingers busy.

Dress them up like a tree and pass it off as scenery.

Don't be a twat. Why don't you try learning stuff with a capo? You'd be surprised what you could learn.

I play with a capo on some of my stuff - it doesn't make it any easier.

Tell this guy he doesn't need a capo.
wat.

Whoever is saying do it without the capo doesn't understand. I play open chords using all 4 fingers, I couldn't barre even if I wanted to. You're just being difficult and it's lame.

TS, i'd recommend 2 pencils and some rubber bands. Maybe a pen that has rubbery grip up the entire side?

You should super glue the strings on the fret you want to capo to your fretboard... Wait a couple of hours... Perfect alternative...
