I have a Fender Squier Strat and I love Floyd Rose bridges and the whole whammy thing. Should I get a whole new guitar, or just pay less and get the bridge and install it?
#3
you wont cost less to put it in

it would Cost more like you'd have to pay for Routing and everything

and yes you will regret having a trem completely if you ever decide to palm mute

Edit:

putting a floyd on a squier strat is a waste of money hands down
theyre horrible quality guitars and you'd be better off getting a new guitar

yes, get a new guitar.....cheaper and besides... if you have the money to install a fr to a squier...why not just get a jackson or schecter or such?

hundreds

because you'd have to hire a luthier to route out your guitars body
and most luthiers are Privately hired so it would cost A BUNCH!!

I don't see why everyone is so against Floyds, I love them, even when I don't use the trem, they stay in tune so well, and there's no problem with palm mutes. But I'd reccomend getting a new guitar if you only have a squire, lash out and buy something you'll love.

Its not worth it to get any upgrades on that guitar.

Spend at least $600 and get a new guitar with a nice or a good licensed floyd rose.

Floyds suck(IMO).

Squiers suck(especially stock).

So, no, easily not.

That's got nothing to do with your trem and everything to do with you not being able to play properly.

A $200 bridge on a $200 guitar hardly seems worth it. It would cost you less if you have it set up flush mounted but then no pull ups if thats what you want.
Still hardly worth it, although there is a Floyd Rose Special that is $76, still a Floyd but made in Korea I believe instead of Germany. Worth Checking it out if you're that desperate but I still wouldn't put it on a Squier.

Oh and to earlier posts, like the seagull said you can easily palm mute on a floating trem.

Its a squire just play it as is. There is nothing wrong with FRs Im not a fan of em but being a lefty makes it pretty hard to get one anyways. But a FR is 150 plus the routing and modding the neck for a locking nut. You could buy 2 or 3 squires for the cost of this project. Or just buy a decent guitar with a FR and still have the squire as an extra guitar.
