I was browsing the guitar center site and came across some new musicman basses:
Musicman Redwood bass
It also comes in a HH version. What do you guys think of these? I think they look kind of ugly imo but I don't know about how they sound.
#2
I think they'd look nicer with a Pickguard

I agree it's ugly, but being a Stringray, it must sound pretty f'n good

It's a EBMM "Ball reserve" Stingray, think it could be one of the like 'premium' models.

... I hate stingrays normally, but I'm starting to kind of not-hate ones with no scratchplate...
the control panel still puts me off, plus there's no way I'm paying £1000 for a guitar.

I don't think so, not all MM basses have to have a pickguard. In this basses case a pickguard would ruin the nice top on the wood.

I think $1000 is reasonable for a good and professional instrument.

1000£ is more along the lines of 1600 USD, though, if I'm not mistaken.

My mistake in the symbol, either way. And I still see it prefectly reasonable. See most Warwicks, good quality Fenders, Musicmen, Spectors, etc.

Nope, I agree. Love the finish on it and think a pickguard would ruin it. I guess theres not many Musicman lovers here...

Oh dude. I'd do that bass.

And I'm sure it sounds famazing. I'm very interested in hearing how the redwood body resonates that hot Stingray sound. I'd probably definitely go for a HH if I got one.

I adore that redwood finish. It looks fbeautiful to me. I said it. Fbeautiful. I really need to get more experience with redwood as a body wood...

But I will admit, $2,450 is a bit rich for my blood. Or bile. Or any fluid I may contain.

Loose the control plate, move the knobs around a little, keep the humbuck but cover it up....

Hmm, i dunno, is it me? I just feel its a musicman, but not........

Leo Fender had to start Musicman to change/evolve the Precision, he did the same with G&L.

Musicman Like Fender before them are tied to their own sucess.

If I had the money, that bass would so be fine, forget having enough cash to buy food. And it would have to be an HH, I'm that kind of Stingray man.

And yes, there are thos eof us that love Musicman basses, the feel, the weight, the necks, the tone. Gorgeous basses, definately.

Why do people think it looks ugly it makes me sad to see such a nice looking and no doubt sounding bass get ripped apart for its looks which IMO are much better than that of a Thunderbird or any other of these 'good looking' basses.

it would no doubt benefit from a transparent red finish. to enhance that coloring.

and I do agree a pickguard would improve it. white pearl?
