I was playing around with open G tuning and ran it through some heavy distortion for fun but it actually sounds pretty sweet. Any metal song ever use open G that you know of?

Strapping Young Lad exclusively use open C. No band as far as I know uses open g though.

So, apparently no one knows what an open tuning is. Open G is NOT super low (it's D G D G B D). Open tunings are quite often used for slide playing.

the white stripes are the heaviest thing i can think of that uses open g. it's really more of a slide tuning

Opeth uses Open Tunings, but I'm not sure which.
