My brother has $300, he uses a Pevey amp (not sure what model) and he play metal.

We checked on guitarcenter.com and there are several $300 Dean and Jackson models on there that he is interested in.

But he is interested in this Dean

Yea it would help if he could stretch his budget a little. Neither company makes a great guitar in that price range. If that's his cap though, I'd reccomend this from Dean

My catalog shows that it has Grover tuners. At least you would have tuning stability if nothing else.
