GTFO, the MG is worse than the crate, and the crate sucks too.

What's your budget?
Is metal the only thing you play?
How are you gonna use this amp (gigging, recording, bedroom practice, jamming with friends)?
Can you go Used?
I don't give a shit if you listen to me or not
#4
I agree with new_kirk_hammet i think that MG is by far the best option. I have one and there great, couldn't live with out mine.

...ok we can all stop with the sacrasitic joke's of the MG's

take a look at the Roland Cube's and Peavey Vyprys
...
#11
Go for a Cube of some sort. Roland Cube 30, probably if you can afford it.

The MG is, indeed, crap. You'll be much happier with the Cube than either the MG or the Crate, I'd guess.

Heres some stuff I found on CL, I don't know exactly how far any of it will be for you:

I'll start with atlanta first
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/msg/933422604.html pretty versatile amp, does metal quite well
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/msg/932918336.html not familiar with this amp, probably worth a try
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/msg/932798432.html Can get the job done, but it's not an amazing amp
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/msg/931404595.html Worth a shot
http://atlanta.craigslist.org/msg/930420346.html Another cube 60

Edit: You guys can either stop or I'm reporting, whether or not you like how the MG sounds it's a horribly built amp and extremely overpriced.

^You're making it too easy. BTW, I have played the MG, I wouldn't talk bad about an amp without playing it.

TS: Sorry about the trolls, those amps I listed are all worth checking out. I forgot to mention, but the peavey Vypyr series is definitely worth a look, I think the 75 watter is in your price range.

The MG's are really horrid. Yes I've played them, extensivly. Still suck. I think the Cube would probably be the best for you at this point.
#29
I think your best bet would be to save up a little bit and look at something a little better.

I'm an idiot and I accidentally clicked the "Remove all subscriptions" button. If it seems like I'm ignoring you, I'm not, I'm just no longer subscribed to the thread. If you quote me or do the @user thing at me, hopefully it'll notify me through my notifications and I'll get back to you.

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.
