I'm a bassist but I've been looking to pick up a guitar. I would be mainly be playing hard rock and/or metal. I've been looking at some Ibanez and LTD's, my price range is about up to 400 or so, what would you guys recomend

I recommend schecter, because they are very versatile.
Gibson Les Paul Traditional
Crate V33 212 Combo
DigiTech Whammy IV
Dunlop Crybaby
MXR Classic Distortion
Ibanez DE-7 Delay
Boss GE-7 Equalizer

um rgs have edge IIIs those are no nos
and dont get bc richs under like $600
id go with a gibson g-400 if you dont want a trem.
or going used would open up many more possibilities

theres nothing wrong with edge III's
the main problem i've seen with the afforementioned trem system, is that the knife edges dull rather quickly when the trem is abused, and those can easily be sharpened. it is made of cheap metal, but an edge III rout fits a Schaller OFR, if you plan on replacing it if/when it breaks. all you'd need to do is have the holes for the studs re-drilled, and that would only take a few minutes.

yea the price range is a bit minimal..

the rg321 is a good guitar!!
the higher end RGs listed are good, but wouldnt recommend as they have floating trems..and starting guitar with one can put u off!!

you could also try out a schecter!!

steer clear from the bc rich starter range..also the ltd 50-101 range...arent too good!

schecter hands down. they are incredible, cheap, versatile, and come with nice pups. go schecter and you will never look back.
