Hi
Been writing for a number of years with my mate who plays bass. We have wrote some real good music but whenever we try and write some vocal melod it sounds flat dull and eems to just follow the guitar o closely. Any tips on writing better vocal melodies. At the mo we are just writting what we think sounds good while playing but when we listen back the melody just sounds poor.

Cheers

Have one of you play the song and the other solo in that key. Don't shred solo, make it an open, slowish jazz/blues ish solo. When you hear something you like and could bear repeating, than go with that.

OR

I just play the verse over and over and sun las or dos and just keep going until something sounds right
If you laugh at this I get to have sex with you.
