Which is the correct intro for technical difficulties?

E||
B||
G||
D||---5----4----5----4--4h5----5----4---5----4------------
A||-----33---33--33--3------33--33--33--33--------------
E||--------------------------------------------------------------

or is it played with a 3 added before the hammer on like

E||
B||
G||
D||---5----4----5----4----4h5----5----4---5----4------------
A||-----33---33--33--33------33--33--33--33--------------
E||--------------------------------------------------------------

Whenever I try playing it like the 2nd example I cant keep it in tempo not even with at 60 bpm but when I play the top example it sounds right. The majority of the tabs are like the 2nd example but I found one tab that is like the 1st so Im confused.

It's the second one, it's just getting the hammer on in the same beat as the others on the D-string

them hammer ons are supposed to last just as long as the other notes on the D string gotcha

my next question is when he goes through the scales is he picking the string

E d u d A u d u

A||-------------------7-9-10-------------
-----------------up---down---up--------
E||---------7-8-10------------------------
--------down---up---down--------------

I found a pretty neat method of doing this and the way I do it is think of the two strings being one. For some reason it helps my right hand stay in motion, but it still is hard.
