Sup UG,

So... I am thinking about asking for a new amp for Christmas. I will never be doing any gigging, so it just needs to be an amp for personal use. I play mainly prog rock. I have been using solely my PODxt for a while and a small Marshall amp... I'd like to here your thoughts on converting to a nicer amp. Should I stick with studio monitors or a more colorful amp?

Price range would be about $400.

What do you guys think about the Roland GP-100? They are hard to come by, bought they seem to kick ass. I see them for about $250.

I picked up a Mesa Studio Caliber DC-2 for that much used, it's AMAZING tone, very similar to Mesa Mark series distortion, very lightweight and affordable all-tube amp, great for recording or gigging or home practice.
