this is going to be my pedal chain, when I have funds to buy all this...

Digitech Main-Squeeze (compressor)
Marshall JH-1 Jack Hammer (JCM-800 type of OD)
Digitech Bad Monkey (OD)
EQ (not sure which brand yet)
MXR M-137 SmartGate (noisegate)
Digitech CR-7 (chorus)
BBE Two-Timer (delay)
Danelectro REEL-ECHO (tape delay sim)
Digitech RV-7 (reverb)

So weigh in on your opinions and let me know if you think this is gig-worthy for smaller gigs...

what amp did you decide on again?

Its between the Fender Blues Jr. or the Peavey Classic 30.

I will be making me final decision in the next few days (though right now I'm leaning towards the Peavey).

Do you really need all of that?

Digitech Main-Squeeze (compressor)
Marshall JH-1 Jack Hammer (JCM-800 type of OD)

Digitech Bad Monkey (OD)
EQ (not sure which brand yet)
MXR M-137 SmartGate (noisegate)
Digitech CR-7 (chorus)
BBE Two-Timer (delay)

Danelectro REEL-ECHO (tape delay sim)
Digitech RV-7 (reverb)

The bolded ones I'm okay with (I recommend the MXR 10 Band EQ, and maybe an ISP Decimator for the noise gate)..

But two OD's, a tape delay simulator, and I'd be a little iffy on the delay.
Is that all essential to your tone?

EDIT: I only say this 'cause I know building a huge pedalboard is not fun when it's a real cash drainer. You probably aren't buying the best effects out there, and if it's not totally useful- why waste the money for a pedal you're only going to use only a little?

Just get the Peavey...do a NAD with pics because you know we luvs the p0rnz, and then focus on one pedal at a time. My suggestion is your pedal thread ought to be:

'what order of importance do you guys think i should follow?'

otherwise, i agree with stratoblaster

more like,

do you really need all of these future gear acquisition threads?

holy ****.

wait till you've actually got some money before you start planning all of this out.

Well, I agree. I am going overboard on some stuff.

The pedals that would be / are essential to my tone would be:

Comp (set to even out and to give it a country type snap)

OD (Marshall as my main OD, I figured since I already have the Bad Monkey I could throw in that, 'just cause'. But yeah I could lose the Bad Monkey)

EQ (UBER-Essential to my tone shaping, I am considering the EHX Knock-Out or the MXR 10-Band)

Noisegate (to get rid of hissing, I am liking the features on the MXR, and it does what I want / need it to, so no one can talk me out of it, besides I just bought it yesterday)

Chorus (essential as I like a heavily-modulated sound)

Delay (I like the concept of 2 delays in one, as the BBE is. I have a Digitech processor and I have one preset with a delay set to slapback arpeggio, and one set to 80's shred. I also have another set the same but with a tape sim. this is where I got the idea of the 2-timer and the tape sim.)

(If I could find a tape sim that can activate two delay times seperately, all in one pedal, and is of gig-worthy quality, that would be the only delay unit I'd ever want / need.)

Reverb (I like reverb, but want more options in shaping and type than just the stock on the Peavey. Also the fact that Digitech models theirs off of Lexicon is nice too.)

So my revised chain:

Digitech Main Squeeze
Marshall Jack Hammer
EQ (EHX Knock-Out or MXR 10-Band)
MXR M-137 Smartgate
Digitech CR-7
Delay (looking for a tape sim with 2 seperately accessable delay times)
Digitech RV-7

I'd look into one of the EHX Grails for reverb if I were you.

Delay wise, I would wait until the Satch/Vox line of pedals comes out. Seeing as how two delays is a big part of his sound, a double shot delay MUST be part of it. And Satch's delay is sexy.

i see nothing wrong with having more than one OD pedal if they have different tones.
#12
first off, i dont like Satch, or Vai, or that type of 80's. I like the 80's pop. Like Tiffany's cover of the song "I think were alone now", that song "one in a million girls", I'm sure yall have heard it. Most Bon Jovi stuff. That type of 80's.

all that looks good to me, i would jsut make sure that you are buying high-quality stuff rather than simply getting what will do the job. you know what I mean? it might take it longer and more money to get what you want, but you'd have the perfect rig.

good luck to ya!

sir, i would like to inform you that you are now my favorite UGer. Not only did you use the word y'all, which is native to my homeland, but you correctly punctuated it using the apostrophe.

well, what would y'all suggest is high-quality?

what brands?

Boutique isnt the only way to go... (I personally wont buy boutique, theyre usually made by some guy in his garage that only THINKS he knows what hes doing).

Also, I'm trying to keep my chain under $1000.
With the following, my chain would cost $993.60 (tax included)

Digitech Main Squeeze
Marshal JH-1 Jack-Hammer
MXR M-135 SmartGate
MXR M-108 10-Band EQ
Digitech CR-7 Chorus
Boss Re-201 Space Echo (unless I find something better)
Digitech RV-7 Reverb

I also plan to use adapters and pulg 'em into a power strip so thats another $150 there.
