For the past year, I've enjoyed a lot of shows from across the pond like The IT Crowd, Black Books, Spaced, Skins, Coupling, Not Going Out, and Top Gear. Anything else out there I should check out? I tried Red Dwarf, that's just way too old for me.
I get very tense around apples...Well, I get very tense generally. I think I've fallen into the trap of blaming fruit.

The UK version of the office had such a sad ending

Watch the Christmas special of the Office! It has a happy ending. (and despite what naysayers say, I think the American Office is pretty much just as good)

And not all of those you named are on the BBC actually but meh that's pretty irrelevant.

The Day Today and Brass Eye are both good.

For more straight forward laughs you should try The IT Crowd.
The League of Gentlemen is good for surreal black humour.

Ignore the mighty boosh unless you're a twatty student/15 year old girl. (powering up fanboy/girl defense system).

Only fools and horses, Brasseye, The Adam and Joe show.

Peep Show, Office, Extras. Red Dwarf is really funny! gig it a go, it gets pretty sci-fi and modern as it goes on, though the last 2 seasons were rubbish.

Maybe The Young Ones and Bottom. Any Comic Strip movie.

EDIT: Damn! Didn't see it in your list, and it was on Channel 4 I believe. So was Peep Show.

Yup, so is their radio show. Adam and Joe are consistently amazing.

If you watch Nevermind the buzzcocks, either watch it when Mark Lamarr was host, or the first series and a half of Amstell being host, all went downhill after that.

I second screenwipe too, but that might not be the best thing for you as its just a pisstake out of TV (though the sections on how tv gets dun are good), harry hills TV burp is on the same note.

have i got news for you, though its probably irrelevant to non- uk ers

Well my uncle created this little show named NEVER MIND THE BUZZCOCKS.

No but seriously it's ma-hoo-sive over here. It's fantastic. Give it a watch, or enthrall the wrath of Craig David's new charity
