is there any improvement in tone by adding a capasitor to a guitar with no tone pot? where would you add it to the signal?

It could make a difference. But I know for a fact that changing the tone pot and the capacitor will make a noticeable difference.

Will it make a difference yes but not in a good way. Without a pot or resister to regulate things it would dump all your treble to ground. You could put it on a switch with a fixed resister or trim pot you could adjust inside the guitar.
