Does it click whenever you hit a string? If so, then it might be bad picking technique.
it's all just coming back
it's all coming back

it's all coming back to me

It sounds like a metronome?
Turn it off then.

Is there any black people on UG?
I don't think a lot of black people play guitar anymore.

Try plugging your amp in to another outlet. Sounds like electical interferance. If it's stedy lika a metronome I'd say your rig is picking up something from where it's set up now. Try moving your set-up to a couple different places. . . away from tv's, computers etc. Now if it clicked and popped without any "timing" or steady interval which is what I'm assuming by "metronome" I'd say it could be jack, cable etc.

if it does it without the guitar plugged in its the amp you may have a loose connection on the input take it out and the prong that juts out push it in a little bit and it will hold onto the patch chord better..my ibanez one bent back alot....
