Which artists, (can be alive or dead, dead artist still count) would be the best (in your opinion) to collaborate to make a cover of an older song, or even make a new song? Details? Maybe even an original woodstock? This thing includes drummers, bassists, guitarists, singers, a whole band, essentially. Really hope you pit-dwellers can get into this.

Insanedit: You guys can also post your favourite collaborations too, if you like.

So like a super band? There's a thread on this in the bands and artists forum. But:

Mikael Akerfeldt
Steve Wilson
Dan Swano
Daniel Gildenlow

They can find other random people for instruments that are missing.

Jimi Hendrix and Tom Morrelo together playing Voodoo Chile would be the most awesome thing ever i can think of right now.

Ah, there is? Well, I guess the mods'll close me down... who's gonna play the cowbell, by the way?

Eddie Vedder and The Strokes did a good collaboration on Mercy Me
Pearl Jam and Ben Harper with a Daughter/Own Two Hands mashup
Counting Crows and Vanessa Carlton did a stunning cover of Big Yellow Taxi

Not exactly where I was going with this, but okay, I guess favourite collaborations can work too.

To be honest, I just read the title

aww, 'tis okay, I edited the OP...

btw, does anyone know if this is clear, or is it too close to the super-band thing...I didn't think so at the time, 'cause this is collaborations...but I'll take it down if it is.

I wish there was a band with jimmy Page on guitar, john Bonham on drums, John Paul Jones on Bass and Keyboards and Robert Plant on vocals.
Their name would be something like Aluminum Balloon..

So we had a music battle, copying what each other did and upping the ante and whatnot. After awhile of going nowhere, I said to the pianist "let's see you do this, asshole" played a single note... and bent it up a step. And left.

Oh the irony. You know that his name is Page right? So I guess that band would have a new guitarist. Is he any good?

Johnny, I know Bob Dylan is a collaboration in himself, but you gotta have someone else in there, at least to play drums...or cowbell at the very least.. gotta have more cowbell.

No, it should be something like...Lead Baloon, except without the "a" in lead.
