Hey everyone
I'm looking at a few amps, but I really don't know which to get, and it would be awesome if you guys can help suggest some for me
I play a mix of everything rock basically. Hard Rock (AC/DC), Classic Rock (The Who, Beatles), Psychedelic (Pink Floyd), 80's Metal (Motley Crue) and Thrash Metal (Metallica, Megadeth).

I'm currently looking at the Marshall MG250DFX. But I heard it doesn't have a good Hard Rock sound. I'm also looking at the Peavey Vypyr 100, but I don't know.

I don't care if it's a tube or solid state amp, and I don't care what effects are on it also (I'm gonna plug my POD X3 in it anyway). Also, I would like something around 50 to 100 watts
Thanks everyone!

Traynor YCV50 Blue
Peavey Classic 30

/thread

I have the same musical tastes as you and I will be buying a Traynor 50Blue when I get the money for it (brand new is like $900cad or something, used will be cheaper).

Also stay away from Marshall MG's. There's a reason they're so cheap. I wish all people realized that when looking at Marshall MG's, they'd realize there's probably a reason why all those popular bands play on Marshalls that cost $2000 to $4000, not the cheaper MG.
my MG15DFX has a button that simulates the sound of one of the expensive tube marshall amps

I'll vote yes on a Traynor YCV50 Blue or Peavey Classic 30.

And btw, to get those tones you're after, you'll have to go tube.

Those two amps are pretty tight. I think this thread can come to a close :-P

Those 2 amps will def get what you want minus maybe the Megadeth. You will have to look at used gear too at $550 which is not a problem actually, that is a good thing. Sometimes, the older the better.

Can an I ask what your closest major city is and do you gig like with a drummer or is this just for bedroom practice?

I made the horrible mistake of buying that marshall. Volume cut in half after 6 months, and after a year it broke. also, terrible sound.

The peavey classic 30 is pretty solid, but im not expert. What i do know, is that tubes are a neccesity.

OK, so just for example sake - here is some stuff. There was more. Especially if you can stretch budget a bit. You could get a killer amp.

Again, nothing wrong with the Traynor or Classic 30 mentioned already.

Peavey Classic 50 $350 (giddy up)

This is just for practice, but I'm planning on using it for gigging very soon.
And the closest major city to me is Los Angeles and Anaheim

By the way, this might get alittle bit of criticism, but I'm planning on buying it at Guitar Center in lieu of the black Friday sales

What about a used Tiny Terror head? You might need a pedal for Thrash Metal, but it should do all of the other styles you mentioned natively.
