...using the geddy lee jazz bass? i've seen quite a few players using it in this genre, it strikes me as odd.

The Geddy Lee jazz bass is just a recreation of an old 70s jazz bass. You're seeing bass players using 70s jazz basses, not an overpriced **** signature bass.

That doesn't make sense. Conversly I've seen alot of indie/pop punk/ trend-core band bassists use Rickenbackers in my area.

nah, while I have seen some using just 70's, I have definitely seen a few using the actual geddy lee one, with his name on top.

i think the growl it puts out is pretty nice in the genre.

and RizzoWashburn, they're not ****.

It's a waste for a signature bass. Just get the 70's J-Bass.

From my experience they kind of are, I mean they're ok. My friend has one and the fret buzz is pretty bad and it makes an ugly smacking sound every time you play it. He might just need to adjust his though.

I have this bass. The maple is beautiful, and the neck is quite thin. But mainly I'm just trying to be like #2 from Anti-Flag.

Punk bands should use these.

because what's more punk than being like "I have 12 strings, but I'm only going to use two, bitch"?

I just noticed the knobs.

I've never heard/played a Fender Jazz bass that I didn't like. However, the idea of a large number of punk bassists using a Geddy Lee signature model seems doubtful to me, unless they're hipsters being ironic Were they also wearing Journey t-shirts?

Yeah. I've never seen ANYONE using a Geddy Lee signature bass. I've seen them use basses similar to his but never a signature one.

I don't care for jazz basses. They're too trebly and their necks are way too thin.

because its a effing awesome bass, great playability and tone

have you played one before? try one out next time you go to GC, just because you have a geddy lee bass doesn't mean you have to play progressive.

While I prefer the ol' P bass for punk (I'm a bit of an old school one for that sound), let us remember Klaus Flouride used a Jazz bass.

Klaus probably is the best, and the coolest, because he didn't play punk bass, he just adapted the surf rock style that he knew!

Hi Mat,

Yes, it's the ‘66 Fender Jazz Bass, although at that time the sticker wasn't on the bass as I picked it up in Denmark on a later tour.

...(Klaus talks about amplifiers, mikes etc)...

Take care,

Yeah, thats a decent amount of money for those of us who have to work for a living. Especially seeing as the GL bass doesn't even compare in quality to the 70s jazz.
