Do all microphones have male outputs? I found a microphone cable online that is female ---> 1/4" with an adapter for my sound card and want to make sure the female side will hook up with my mic (haven't received the mic yet so i can't tell).

thanks

Every mic should have a male conenctor for the output. All outputs are generally male, and vice versa all inputs are generally female, which is logical when you think about it.

evey mic has the male port on them....EVERY XLR ONE

Anyways I can see you are planning on plugging it into your stock sound card mic port. Stop while you are ahead...it wont work.
The SM57 needs a lot of gain and the preamps on stock cards simply isnt enough. You really should get an audio interface.
