is there a difference tone wise with the overdrive side of the jackhammer and the guv'nor 2? they are both made to sound like jcm800s right?

There is a difference. If I EQ them exactly the same the Jackhammer always sounds more scooped IMO. The Gov'nor does really great classic hard rock sounds. I can go from AC/DC & ZZ Top to The Scorpions or Gary Moore.

the jackhammer has different EQ controls, like a parametric mid-scoop control. I haven't really got to compare them. But the jackhammer is great with single coils, despite being a "metal" overdrive.
I like analogue Solid State amps that make no effort to be "tube-like", and I'm proud of it...

...A little too proud, to be honest.
