can someone help e out with this math problem

i have to complete the square of this function

n^2=3n+18

im just not understanding the whole complete the square thing of someone could help me out i would appreciate it so much

n=6, -3

You just want to add 0.

n^2-3n-18=0
n^2-3n+(3/2)^2 - (3/2)^2 -18 = 0
Factor
(n-3/2)^2 - 9/4 - 18 = 0
(n-3/2)^2 - 81/4 = 0

And so your vertex is at (3/2,81/4).

(n-1.5)^2 -22.25 = 0

i think, unless my beer has robbed me of my maths skills

Basically, you get it into the for of the second line, then take the 3 (or whatever number is there), half that and put it in the bracket, and square it. that bracket gives you n^2 - 3n + 2.25. to get this equal to what you originall yhad you have to take away 22.25, hence the final answer
