not that I own one but I LOVE PRS... I think they're the best brand because, honestly, have they ever made a bad guitar?
#3
Gretsch guitars, unlike most people I really like their looks and sound
Beau, oui, comme Bowie

+1 for gretsch sound, not so great in the looks department for some of the guitars though.

I like PRS, Schecter, some of the non strat Ibanez's, Gibson LP's, Fender strats and teles and last but not least, Steinberger guitars.

Epiphone? Wouldn't you go the extra mile and say Gibson?
Personally, I'd much rather have a Gibson than an Epi.

As far as metal guitars, Schecters would be my favourite. For rock, I like the Gibson Les Pauls, then Fender Strats/Telecasters. I love my Epiphones, both of mine are really reliable.

PRS make brilliant guitars, and I like Gretsch guitars also.

I said Epiphones because I seriously think Gibsons are overpriced. Epiphones are just as good, but cheaper.

The only gibsons I like are the Gibson SG Standard and SG Special, and the Explorer.

Fender and Jackson. A few months ago I would have said Ibanez, and about a year ago I'd have said Gibson. I've learned.

In terms of attention to detail, quality, playability, and tone, James Tyler and Anderson are probably the most amazing I've seen. There was also this one really cool Euro brand I saw at a show once but can't remember the name of. I know they played really well but were kind of pricey. Honorable mentions go to Duesenberg and Peavey Customs...

Carvins are fantastic. I have played a fair number of them, and have never found one that felt any less than great. I can understand why some people don't like how they sound, though, but they are a great platform for new pickups, electronics, and other mods.
#26
Carvin is awesome, for ordering a custom guitar...the next guitar I buy, couple years from now, definitely going through them.

But anyway, for my full favorite brands.

Epiphone (Guitar): I love Epiphones. The Les Pauls are great and so are the SG G-400's. They are just like Gibsons but cheaper. Anything thats Epiphone is good, but for SG's I would rather go with SG Standards if I had the money, because they set the line for SG's.

Marshall (Amps): A lot of people hate Marshall, but I love them. I like the sound of the MG's, and think that a JVM is totally worth saving money for, if you get paid a good amount. Marshall gives me my favorite sound, and I'll stick with them.

BOSS/Roland (Effects): I love these BOSS pedals. There are tons of them that all sound good. I use an ME-20 for Modulation and Delay/Reverb, a DS-1 for when I goof around playing metal and grunge, and an OS-2 to get a perfect blend of distortion and overdrive for what I play (different kinds of punk, but mainly punk rock like NOFX.) The only non-BOSS pedal I use is a Crybaby Wah, and in the future I plan on buying a Digitech whammy pedal.

I also like ESP LTD's a little bit, I might buy one one day.

prs guitars are always nice and strats and les pauls are classics for obvious reasons but the ideal guitar depends on your personal playing style. There are crucial factors such as wood types, components etc.. For example some old strats are good mainly because of the type of copper they used in the pick-ups which is not used anymore for some reason. So imho the best guitars are the unheard-of luthier made guitars that have absolutely no market value but are priceless.
#33
Washburn: cheap but great
Parker: haven't tried one but have heard great things about them
PRS: *same as above*
Fender: strats, teles, jags and mustangs. whats not to love ?

I would love either:

A PRS custom 22

Or you can't go wrong with a good ol Gibson Les Paul Custom Classic.

I'm a Schecter guy, unbeatable price/value ratio. I have yet to find a schecter that wasn't well made. Compared it to every other brand I could get my hands on with the same price tag, and schecter won hands down.

ESP, Schecter, Ibanez, Gibson, Fender, and Godin...... wow that's a lot that i like hahah.

but seriously i probably wouldn't buy a guitar from a company that isn't one of these names.
