So we practice at my bassists basement and he has a 75 watt spyder 2. the distortion sounds muffled and theres not even presence. Really not diggin it.

So we chipped down 350$ and looking to buy a better amp we can practice with.

I was wondering if youd be able to suggest something and explain your reasoning.
We are a thrash band and play stuff like slayer/megadeth.

Ive been snooping around and i found this really cool carvin that got good reviews and its brand new. It fits right in my price range so what do you guys think of it?

P.S. i dont care if the amp is new or used.

Maybe a Peavey Valveking 112 Combo. Should be able to find one used in that price range, loud enough for practice and shows.

Where do you live? I might be able to find something good on your local Craigslist for cheap.

I've had tube amps for a while now, but never actually had any go down on me

maybe you're not saying the right things? an amp likes to know you care.

Not sure if this is a combo or not, but this would almost be perfect if it was - http://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/msg/938600897.html

You *could* use the speakers of the Spider with the head, but I totally didn't read where it said head haha.

There's some really good deals on your CL (if I lived there, I'd totally pick this up http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/msg/938090417.html ), but nothing too great that I'm seeing at $350, but there's LOTS of posts, so I'm sure there's something in there lol.
