I'm talking Randy Rhoads tone, btw. Anyways i'm within a day or 2 of buying a Classic 30 I just wanted to ask this. this won't affect my decision to get it, i'm just curious.

Only with a boost of some kind. Its got almost enough for Maiden by itself. At bedroom levels that is.
Thats the only reason I got rid of mine, not enough gain by itself. Awesome clean channel though

Probably, a bad monkey should push it to those levels for sure.

It has enough gain on tap for VH and RR-era Ozzy but that is pretty much its limit.

You could try using a EHX LPB-1 which is about 40 USD, they're pretty good at getting a bit more drive/volume from your amp. Also you can give Tubescreamers and other overdrive pedals a try too but the most important thing you can do, is try as many of these pedals as possible because you might find one that works perfectly even if we didn't recommend that model.
