I was thinking about the Classic 30 or the Crate v18. But I'd prefer something that has a regular volume and a master volume, for that sweet breakup at quiet volumes.

I play Led Zeppelin, Hendrix, SRV, Cream, some metal.

I could spend around $300 probably, and I'm willing to go used.

$300 tube amp? wow, you aren't leaving yourself with too many options. I can't think of an amp that would have two volumes like that for that price. I say get a Blackheart and an attenuator and some mods and you can get what you are looking for. A few more bucks and an Orange Tiny Terror can get you in that range too or an Egnater Rebel 20. Tube amps aren't cheap, sorry.

Either of the ones that you mentioned would be fine.

yea, you arent going to find a new tube amp for 300 that is as versatile as you can afford, but i would check out used amps on ebay or go to your LOCAL guitar shop, not guitar center, and test out all the tube amps and have one of the guys there check it out with you

Try looking at a used blues junior also, although you're not gonna get the metal sound your looking for without a pedal. Great for classic rock though
