If you plug the Pod x3 live into a computer via USB can you use the midi in/out to controll a midi piano??

I don't see why not if the piano connects to the pod also but im not sure of what you are trying to do. be more specific.

MIDI is simply another way to change patches or operate virtual instrments. The MIDI in/Thru on the POD is only for a MIDI footcontroller. This would alow you to change presets with midi control changes.

I hear its been done but the pod was never designed for this purpose and Line6 say theres a chance the CC messages will be off by a few digits.

Im also interested in this as I plan to use my pod to control my G-major and in turn my amps channel switching.

This should actually be really easy. You won't need anything but Program Change data.
