I have finally narrowed my choice down to 4 guitars(and it only took me 6 hours of fun! )

Dean Evo Xm
Dean Vendetta
Squier by Fender Bullet Electric Guitar with Tremolo
Epiphone LP Junior Special Electric Guitar

Remember Im a starter, this will be my first guitar, so I need a good starter. Please if you would list the pros and cons, and if you can find a guitar that is $100-150 that you believe to be better please say so thanks.

Umm, I dont really like heavy metal or death metal. I enjoy santana, and preety much anything exept metal.

You bastard, you need more metal!

I've heard bad things about lower cost deans.

Go with the Squire or Epiphone?

I keep hearing everyone say Squire but then I here bad things about them like sound and tuning and stuff. Can anyone who has one clear this up for me?

k for the music you wanna play you want the squire... the reason no one likes squires is cause they are crap beginner guitars, but u ARE a beginner

With those selections I would go with the Epiphone. I have several friends who have vendettas and lower end deans are ether hit or miss. The squire will also probably surpass your needs however you may have issues keeping it in tune since the hardware is dirt cheap.

I've got a squire bullet, and its not amazing or anything, but it's not horrible either. As a beginner guitar its more than adequate, though I think you might want to have the tuners/pickups replaced in the long run.

Stock, epiphone's probably your best bet.

The Junior is a terrible guitar, I've played it. If you absolutly MUST get a guitar with such a low budget, then get this thing: http://www.zzounds.com/item--EPILPSPIIPPEB

It's a bit out of your budget, but it comes with everything you'll need to get started.

I tried it out in store.

Great neck, nice n light, good tuning stability. Overall a good guitar. I didn't but it cause I generally only buy guitars over a grand now.

why just four options? there are more brands then fender, gibson and dean. also, you might need more money. the most important thing when starting is a good amp. i reccomend this:
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Crate-V-Series-V5-5W-1x10-Tube-Guitar-Combo-Amp?sku=487050
or this
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Roland-Micro-Cube-Combo-Amp?sku=481169

and for guitars:

http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-GAX30-Electric-Guitar?sku=519725
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-GRX20-Electric-Guitar?sku=519417
and if you can get a bit more money:

http://www.rondomusic.com/al2000whitegoldhw.html
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/ESP-LTD-H51?sku=512888
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-GSA60-Electric-Guitar?sku=519536
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-GAX70-Electric-Guitar?sku=519404
http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-RG120-Electric-Guitar?sku=519426
if i were you, i would get the crate tube amp, save some 200 bucks and get either the agile al-2000 or the Ibanez GAX-70

also, about your choices:
1.- both deans are hit and miss. and if you got a good one, the pickups still suck.
2.-the squier is a good choice, but the yamaha PAC-012 is a much better guitar for 50 extra dollars
3.- the epi is decent at much. and, its no worth its price. the Ibanez GAX is much better for the price.

I AM ASHAMED OF THIS FORUM FOR NOT RECCOMENDING A GOOD AMP FIRST.the guitar is not all what you need to sound nice.
