Hi all,

Here is my idea for my £100 build, I'm gonna build a RG style guitar with a mahogany body. I've only built one body before so building the neck should be interesting!!

I was sitting at work today abit bored then I got a delivery

After the first layer of packing taken off:

Several minutes pass as I struggle to get all this damn tape off

Ahh thats better Not a bad piece of wood considering I only paid £30 for it, might need abit of planing to get it 100% flat but thats not the end of the world. Overall its a good price for a 1 piece piece of mahogany

Here is what the final product should look like (assuming I dont make any stupid mistakes!!!):
Gear:

Ibanez RGT220H
Schecter C1 Elite
Ibanez EWC30
Maxon OD-808
Framus Cobra
Peavey 5150 MK1 Block Letter
ENGL E530 Preamp
Mesa Boogie Standard Rectifier 4x12

Good luck with it, i'm doing an build for this too. But i think i'll just scrounge a neck from somewhere, don't fancy making one just yet. Looks like it'll be interesting.

Looks like a knot.

I'd make the opposite side to the neck pocket, like, make it the bottom. It could cause some instability when used in a joint.

Yer its a knot but its more than long enough so I can avoid it I'll grab a pic with my RG for comparison in a sec.

I got the wood thicknessed today by my mate who works in the local joinery so its all nice and flat now.

Heres a new higher quality pic of the wood and some pics of the hardware I have left over from various projects that I'm using for this build now.

EDIT: for size comparison

Please man, goes for an oil/stained type natural finish. Don't cover up the grain.

hmm I'm not sure about the natural finish; I mean I love oil finishes but I alrerady have a natural mahogany RG. I might change my mind though so we'll see!

Erm Iron Gear have an industrial theme going on their with their pickups haha, the steamhammer, rolling mill, hot slag etc.
